Mexico, USA - Tropical Cyclone NEWTON
• TC NEWTON formed over the north-western Pacific Ocean on 4 September. On 6 September at 9.00 UTC it made landfall over Baja California Sur state (Mexico) with approx. max. sust. winds of 148 km/h. On 7 September it made a second landfall over Sonora state (Mexico) with approx. max. sust. winds of 110 km/h. It then continued moving north-east over land and becoming a Post-Tropical Cyclone.
• Over the next 24 h it is forecast to move northnortheast, weakening and dissipating. Heavy rain may affect several areas of south-eastern Arizona and south-western New Mexico states (USA).
• According to local media two people were killed, three injured, three missing and over 1 200 homes were damaged in Guerrero and Baja California Sur states.

Guatemala
• Heavy rain has been affecting southern parts of the country over the past few days causing landslides.
• Local media, as of 8 September report at least nine people dead, one missing, one injured and at least 30 families evacuated in the municipality of Villa Nueva in Guatemala department.

Nigeria
• Heavy rain has been affecting several parts of the country over the past few days causing floods and casualties.
• Local media, reported that at least 28 people have been killed, hundreds of houses have been damaged in the states of Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Kaduna, Kwara, Nasarawa, Yobe and Zamfara.

Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
• Severe weather, including heavy rain and strong winds, affected several parts of the country, over the past week causing floods.
• According to local media, 60 people have been killed, 15 have gone missing, 44 000 have been evacuated and over 17 000 houses have been destroyed or partially damaged in the northeastern regions.

Greece
• Heavy rain affected several mainland parts of the country, over 5-7 September, causing floods.
• Local media reported four deaths, two in Messinia one in Lakonia and one in Central Macedonia regions, several homes damaged in Messinia region and traffic disruptions in several areas of the country.
